I have a long sleeved hoody in a 90g finish (from another company (sorry) which was perfect to sleep in on the 4 degree camp) but it would have been far to warm for for riding in this last weekends 2 day bike packing trip.
So, I used this my new Ciovitta Polartec under vest for the first time on what turned out to be a full day of riding in some of the heaviest rains of the year, which never stopped from 10am until the following morning at 4am.
Because the weather was warm on the Saturday I wore this undervest under my very thin Gore shakedry rain jacket (and at times on the windy tops I did put a thin short sleeved over shirt on between the base and top layer, this effectively trapped the warm air close to my body when the temps dropped.
Most of my riding buddies were soaked to the skin with their heavy clothes weighing a ton, this combination with opening the zip on the jacket kept me perfectly warm and really dry in comparison.
It offers such amazing warmth for so little weight.
The following day was cold, much colder down to 4 degree at the start but blue skies and sunshine all day
So, it was on with a normal cycling top and this Ciovita Polartec under vest for the whole day and again I never over heated, I never got wet with sweat and I never felt the cold.
